Made famous by writer James Joyce, St Stephens Green has been Dublin's favorite picnic spot for over a century. Opened in 1880, the park is adjacent to one of the city's major shopping streets, drawing equal numbers of nature lovers and shoppers in need of a place to rest. The largest of Dublin's Georgian gardens, this 9 hectare (22 acre) urban park once provided a marshy setting for public whippings and executions. Today, the elegantly landscaped garden features Georgian buildings and statues of some of Ireland's most celebrated figures, including Arthur Guinness, Robert Emmet, and W.B. Yeats. Located in the heart of Dublin, the park is accessible by tram from almost anywhere in the city. Find out how to plan Dublin trip without stress by asking Inspirock to help create an itinerary.

St Stephens Green Reviews
With a lot less muggings, duck ponds, places to picnic or just sit on a bench in peace...but this is Dublin, you won’t be alone long before someone friendly sits down to join you for a wee chat! 2... more »
St. Stephens Green is a fantastic sizable park in the centre of Dublin City. There are ponds, statutes, walkways and some amazing trees and flower beds. Great place to stroll and relax. more »
Wonderful oasis and place of relaxation. It is beautifully maintained. On occasion there is a band. The statues are of great Irish women and men. In season there are beautiful flowers. There are ducks in the pond.
Beautiful Green in the middle of the city. Very enjoyable place to walk around and see the very well maintained flowers and trees. You may even get chased my a herring gull. Plenty of benches to sit and relax or people watch or even read a book. Absolutely stunning on a sunny day. Well worth a visit
