Aquarium of Genoa includes 70 tanks housing more than 600 different species of sea creatures, including dolphins, seals, sharks, and tropical fish. In the old harbor area of the city, the aquarium covers more than 3,100 sq m (33,000 sq ft) and welcomes more than 1 million visitors each year. Opened in 1992, the venue was built to celebrate the 500th anniversary of local sailor Christopher Columbus' discovery of the New World. Designed by Genoese architect Renzo Piano, the structure resembles a ship ready to head out to sea. Advance tickets are available online. Aquarium of Genoa reviews
We booked our tickets in advance and arrived at 9:30 (no queue), body temp taken at entrance. It wasn't too busy with only a handful of noisy children to distract us. We got to see dolphins doing... more »

Very lovely experience and you have to visit here that you can enjoy with your family. Kids will be very excited to see all things there. The adult ticket price is 27€ and above and under 14 it will cost 18€, but if you book early adult price it will be 18€. And there are so many family packages and you can see them at the counter.
My husband and I visited the aquarium today and although it was nice, it is definitely not worth €26 per ticket for just the regular aquarium experience. We assume it's because of the low season, but there were major exhibits closed for maintenance, including the seal area, and we don't understand how this place can justify charging full price. Parts of the facilities are in need of repair and don't seem to be taken care of well, which no person who loves animals wants to see. We actually had to contact a staff member when we witnessed a speaker fall into one of the large fish tanks! It seemed to be crudely attached to the tank with paper and tape. I also have to agree with other reviews that mention the state of the dolphin tank. It's bigger than what I've seen at places like Sea World, but not by much, and the dolphins don't appear to have anything to stimulate them aside from their fellow dolphin friends. I was also shocked by how small the octopus tank was for the size of the octopus! They are another highly intelligent species that need space and stimulation and it was disappointing to see how it was kept. The other exhibits were enjoyable, such as the touch pool, penguin area and various fish/shark tanks, although I will say that there was a bit of redundancy with the Sponge Bob and Finding Nemo areas. It was basically no different than what you see in the regular exhibits, and felt more like they were trying to give the feel of seeing additional types of fish. Overall, the aquarium is a nice place to visit if you can manage to find a discount and aren't overly sensitive to animals held in captivity. I find it hard to believe that it's the biggest aquarium in Europe considering there is a lot of empty space throughout, so maybe the claim is more about square footage than the actual number of exhibits. If you're in the area and need to kill a few hours, it's a decent choice.
