Domus Aurea Reviews
This massive archaeological site is a must see when in Rome. Sure, the Colosseum has pride of place but this complex is so much more compelling despite most of it being underground. The archaeological... more »

I was impressed by the grandeur and the splendor, although the works are still in progress, there are parts not yet visited and many paintings partly not visible. I loved the 3D footage with viewer that allows you to get into the virtual reality of Domus in the days of Nero . Visit absolutely not to be missed and I think to return in a few years hoping for a further progress of the restoration work , although the very kind and very competent guide said that the real restoration has yet to begin.
A great experience, to visit a lost imperial palace that must have been immensely luxurious. The virtual reality presentation is breathtaking. Our guide was a great expert and very friendly. It took nearly 1,5 hours, not too long for such a unique site.
Exceptional remains of an exceptional piece of history. A great destination for anyone interested in either history or the Roman Emperor Nero. To enter the ruins, it's required to book for the guided tour in advance. It's possible to buy tickets on thee spot, but it is most likely that you will find that they're of tickets. Also take care in finding the entrance, it is rather hidden ans if you're using maps, search for "Domus Aurea Entrance"
