Transport yourself centuries back in time at Chateau de Vianden, a medieval fortress and palace dating back to the 14th century. Before you enter, notice the guard towers--one white and one black--flanking the main structure. Walk through a total of five gates, including a drawbridge and a descending grid. Afterward, you'll come to the little palace, where you can see the armory and Byzantine hall with its beautiful trefoil windows. Next, find the great palace, the largest section of the castle, featuring a knights' hall. Perhaps the most significant section, however, is the Romanesque-style chapel, which boasts two floors with an opening in the middle and balconies for the nobles. Chateau de Vianden Reviews
Het is een mooi kasteel, maar wij verwachten van binnen wat meer gedecoreerde en aangeklede kamers. We took the cable car and then the unsafe walking path... I recommend people with little energy or who are badly on the bone!

It is worth making the way up and investing the 7€ for the entrance and another 2€ for the audio guide. The castle inspires from the first minute. Even the first room is how one imagines it in a fairytale castle. Large columns a great ceiling construction and a real treasure chest is also in the corner. The audio guide explains in detail, understandable and also gives one or the other anecdote to the best. In the course of the tour you get with which almost everything is a reconstruction, since the castle was a ruin until the 1970s. The reconstruction has been successful and the money has been well invested. It gives a vivid insight into the High Middle Ages.
This beautiful, picturesque castle is located in a quaint little town alongside the Our River. Although we chose to walk to the top, it did seem like there were buses available that stop just a short distance from the main entrance. I would recommend buying the Luxembourg Card for those travelling the country, as this grants you free transport as well as free entry into loads of locations. We came to Vianden Castle from Luxembourg central via bus, which was very straightforward. The castle itself is very large with plenty of things to see inside.
Beautiful place, definitely worth it! The tour takes some time, there is a lot to see, read and simply enjoy. This castle is quite original and they did a great job with the renovations! You have a souvenir shop, you can get some drinks and some food too. Great place to visit with your family or friends.
