The Business Design Centre is a Grade II listed building, which was originally opened as the Royal Agricultural Hall in 1862 in the district of Islington in London, England, for holding agricultural shows. It was the home of the Royal Smithfield Club's Smithfield Show from 1862 to 1938. It hosted the Royal Tournament from its inauguration in 1880 until the event became too large for the venue and moved to Olympia in the early years of the 20th century. It hosted the first Crufts dog show in 1891.Use our London online road trip planner to add Business Design Centre and other attractions to your London vacation plans.
During the Second World War, the hall was commandeered by the Government, and from 1943, following the destruction of Mount Pleasant sorting office in an air raid, the Parcels Depot was moved to the hall. The hall then remained unused and empty until it was converted to its present use as the Business Design Centre in 1986.
Business Design Centre Reviews
Nice exhibition space in the middle of an old building and working space for design businesses. Easy access and nice and bright due to a glass roof. Food and drinks are pricey but Angel is right... more »
Really enjoyed my day out at the Country Living Christmas Fair here. Some interesting looking businesses inside and a lovely large space to look around all of the stalls inside. more »
Went to the London edge event and it was great easy to get to and plenty of toilets and the staff are helpful. It's nice and big and has plenty of light. Worth going to check out if events are taking place here. I have been a number of times and always enjoyed myself.
My first time visiting the London Art Fair held at the Business Design Centre and I didn't expect such a well run and organised exhibition area. The staff were very helpful and it is wheelchair accessible with a lift. I recommend taking public transport to get here. There are many cafes and restaurants about and the art scene atmosphere is one of discovery and cultural adventure.
