Churchill War Rooms, London

4.7
At Churchill War Rooms, see how Winston Churchill and his inner circle directed the British war effort from this bunker complex. In the Cabinet War Rooms, which served as Churchill's living quarters, look for the chair--with scratch marks on its arms--in which Sir Winston sat while strategizing with his closest advisers. The books, color-coded telephones, and documents on desks in the Map Room remain just as they were when the bunker emptied on August 16, 1945. Moving on to the Churchill Room, see where Churchill slept while in the bunker. In the Churchill Museum, learn all about the life of the leader who guided Britain through one of the most trying periods of its history. The site does not have a cloakroom, so expect to carry or wear whatever you bring with you. • This tour gave a very in-depth background into the war from the British war room and Churchill's point of view. Tour is given through audio guides that are user friendly and available in many languages. Allowing you to go at your own pace. Would recommend that you book online beforehand to join the 'priority' queue and avoid the long (about 30-40 minute) standard queue we waiting in.
  • I’m a big WWII history buff and this museum was incredible. Upon entering the museum you are immediately transported back in time. To see the rooms in which Winston Churchill and his commanders ran the war effort exactly as they were back then was truly remarkable. The exhibit on Winston Churchill himself is alone worth a visit, and is large enough to spend a couple hours on. This museum is a must see for anyone even remotely interested in WWII or Winston Churchill.
