Get lost in the United Kingdom's oldest bookstore, Hatchards, established in 1797 by John Hatchard. Browse the shelves for subjects including fiction, nonfiction, gardening, royalty, art, biography, and much more. The shop has hosted signings by such notables as J.K. Rowling, Margaret Thatcher, and Stephen Fry. Look for the portrait of the founder at the top of the staircase. • Another bookstore that oozes character. The staff are so polite & knowledgeable. Tough jog having to put with so many weird people. Probably my most frequented bookshop when I am in London.  more »
  • They carry all the British writers my husband lives and many signed copies. Store has a welcoming feeling and knowledgeable staff.  more »

  • Amazing old bookstore that has kept up with the times. The staff is super friendly and helpful. It has all the various books you would require and if not available nearly everything can be ordered. The store is very beautiful and very quiet, especially for its location in the centre of London. I would recommend going here, even if you would just love to have look around or browse for inspiration. If you are ever near, it is a must visit!
  • A destination. Since 1797 with all its old world charm intact. And the team - helpful, cheery and passionate with what they do.
