The word "unique" is often misused but when applied to the Marx Memorial Library & Workers' School, it is entirely appropriate for the only centre in the United Kingdom wholly dedicated to Marxist education and ideas.

The building was home to the first socialist papers in Britain at the end of the 19th century. Lenin edited the Bolshevik paper, Iskra, there in 1902-1903. Since its foundation in 1933, MML has existed for the advancement of education, learning and knowledge for anyone desiring to make full use of its resources and attend public lectures and classes.

  • In the year we celebrate 100 years of Women Activism, is it not Time communist Kath Duncan celebrated as The National Treasure she is ? . Come see #Liberty or buy the book.
  • A working library also extensive underground archives of newspapers, pamphlets, posters, documents and memorabilia relating to socialism, communism and unionism, especially with respect to the printing and paper industries which were located in the environs. Lenin briefly worked here in the early 20th.Century. Quirky and offbeat, a bit of a shambles, down to earth and authentic. Bound for more recognition as this agenda is propagated and gains traction with a new generation of believers. A worthwhile destination, reasonably priced tour and annual library membership at nominal fee.
