Surround yourself with history and a calming garden at St. Dunstan in the East Church Garden. Although bombed out in World War II, the 12th-century church grounds were converted into a lovely garden teeming with green walkways, native vegetation, and old trees. Step away from the heart of London into the gardens, and admire the remains of the church--including a steeple designed by Christopher Wren at the turn of the 18th century. Look for a plant called winter's bark, whose vitamin C-rich leaves used to be consumed to prevent scurvy. Pack a picnic to get the most from this peaceful setting. For travelers who use our custom trip planner, London holidays become easier to arrange, with trips to the St. Dunstan in the East Church Garden and other attractions mapped out and timetabled.

  • Aesthetically pleasing grade 1 listed architecture by Christopher Wren now open to the elements and turned into a tranquil garden. Walls with pillars and arches, spire and steeple, arched windows and doorways festooned with leaves. Great place to sketch and photograph. Or just sit and chill. One of London's hidden gems! In close proximity to Old Billingsgate Market, Great Fire of London Monument, Philpot Lane Mice Sculpture, The River Thames and London Bridge. Nearest station is Monument.
  • Loved this place! It's quite a unique destination in London. Perfect for relaxing a bit in the summer as there are lots of shades here. The view is also aesthetically pleasing. There were a few of people when I came here, and not too crowded. So it's a great place to come here once in a whole to read a book or so.
