St. James's Park is one of the most pleasurable green spaces in London. The oldest of the city's royal parks, it offers 23 hectares (57 acres) of lawns, trees, and playgrounds around a pond. Take a stroll down the queen's ceremonial route from Buckingham Palace, spot the palace and the London Eye from the Blue Bridge, and enjoy a waterside meal at Inn the Park while spotting ducks, geese, swans, and even pelicans. While in the park, keep an eye out for some of the plaques along the Diana Princess of Wales Memorial Walk. This 11 km (7 mi) route past buildings and locations related to the princess goes through this park, as well as Green Park, Hyde Park, and Kensington Gardens. A visit to St. James's Park represents just the start of the adventure when you use our London travel route builder website to plot your vacation.

  • despite the community of ducks and geese, we cannot feed them. the playground is good ( at the Palace end) loads of space this time of year to sit down and rest and try to get close to nature  more »
  • St James's Park is one of my favourites. It's a Royal Park, so perfectly manicured, in parts, but also theres a casual feel to it. Perfect fro a stroll after the Changing of The Guard, or any other.....  more »

  • Lovely park near Buckingham Palace, a nice way to relax in the never sleeping London. Very "groomed", it houses birds and squirrels and ducks and yeah, a lot of animals in general. There's a large bar with park view offering beverages and snacks. They do also offer a lunch menu. Coffee was good and toilet was very clean. A nice break overall.
  • Such a very beautiful place. I love these gardens!! So many gorgeous areas to walk, sit and explore. The tropical greenhouse is my favorite place to be. The membership is well worth it. Great spring plant sale also
