St. Katharine Docks, London

4.6
#16 of 183 in Parks in London
Venture around central London’s only marina at St. Katharine Docks. The site has an interesting history; once a historic dock dating back to 1828, the area came under heavy fire during "the Blitz" and the docks were left virtually destroyed after WWII. After their closure in 1968, the docks underwent an extensive redevelopment project, which was completed in the 1990s. Today, the area provides office spaces, luxury waterside homes, a yachting marina, restaurants, and bars. Enjoy exploring this elegant and surprisingly peaceful part of the city and finish off with a drink overlooking the marina. • A lovely place to visit on a nice sunny day. The views are great and there are a good amount of restaurants and bars. If you walk past the barrier you can get a great up close view of tower bridge.
  • Nice place to visit. It can get very crowded with tourists, so bear that in mind if you're looking for a quiet place for lunch. Furthermore, there are a lot of joggers going through the area, so you may have to jump out of their way from time to time. The benches near Thames are nice to sit in the sun and provide a panoramic view of all the activity on the river. Extraordinary view of the Tower Bridge as well.
