Create an itinerary including Roman-German Museum (Romisch-Germanisches Museum)
Don't miss the highlight of Roman-German Museum (Romisch-Germanisches Museum): an 1,800-year old mosaic of the god Dionysus. The artwork, crafted from millions of ceramic tiles, is--amazingly--completely intact. Throughout the museum's three floors, you'll see hundreds of artifacts from the Roman colonization of the Rhine Valley. Various dioramas offer details about daily life and religion in Roman Germania. The exhibits are laid out to resemble the inner courtyard of a Roman villa. As you walk around, you'll see that the museum was built around the discovery of the mosaic. Be sure to pay a visit to the restored stretch of ancient road just outside the building.
