Create an itinerary including St. Peter's Cathedral (Dom)
The castle-like architecture mixes many different styles. Note the vaulted interior and ceiling, as well as the intricate stucco ceiling in the western end. Stop by the tombs of the Archbishops of Trier buried on the grounds. Don't miss the skull of St. Helena, the mother of Roman Emperor Constantine, in the crypt. The cloister courtyard offers striking views of the tower, covered halls, and inner garden. Check the website for times of services. You can attend Roman Catholic mass or vespers, but tourists cannot explore the cathedral during a service. • This was one of the highlights of our day in Trier, what a phenomenal Cathedral. The architecture outside was incredible and inside was grand, with an unusual blue and white organ.

  • Breathtaking.. Don't forget to go up the stairs to the right. Stand close to the cloth that Jesus wore and just take it all in (you're not able to see it or get close to it but the statues surrounding it is just beautiful. 😍💕
  • A truly ancient building, with Baroque altars throughout, honoring various deceased archbishops. It's easy to become overwhelmed by the ornate details. A cloak of Jesus is said to be kept in a chapel behind the main altar.
