Christ Church Cathedral
One of Dublin's oldest buildings, Christ Church Cathedral sits in the medieval heart of the city. A thousand years old, this imposing cathedral is both a place of pilgrimage and a major architectural landmark, noted for its flying buttresses and stained glass windows. The cathedral's southern aisle features a monument to Richard de Claire, known to history as the Anglo-Norman "Strongbow" who invaded Ireland in 1170. Below the cathedral lies an ancient arched crypt, reputed to be the largest in the country. A guided tour can show you the crypt's curious features, which include a display of a mummified cat chasing a mummified rat trapped inside an organ pipe in the 19th century that's now affectionately called "Tom and Jerry." I know that this place is a church, as I saw it, it's a nice building with very nice architecture. Worth of couple of shots.

Such an amazing church with an incredible history! The audio guide was excellent and I think the guided tour might be even better (apparently you get to ring the bells!). Definitely budget several hours to see it all. Keep an eye out for the corner with original floor tiles, the family crest with a monkey because their pet monkey climbed to the top of a tower with their heir and then safely returned the baby, the mummified cat and rat, and a saint’s heart that was mysteriously stolen and then anonymously returned. Definitely one of the top sights in Dublin!

This place is so beautiful. We went in after realizing it was part of our Dublin pass, and I’m so glad we did! I love that they let you wander and explore. We lit some candles for our family members who have passed. My aunt tried on some of the period clothing. We checked out the catacombs and purchased a few things from the gift shop. Loved every minute!!
